As a result, Amerisleep makes mattresses that are suitable for all types of sleepers with excellent support, airflow, and bounce.

Who the Amerisleep Mattresses Is Best For

Amerisleep mattresses work best for:

  • Back, side, and stomach sleepers
  • Anyone dealing with lumbar pain
  • People looking for eco-friendly mattresses

When it comes to pain relief, Amerisleep invests in Surface Modification Technology (SMT). The technology targets to relieve pressure and improve comfort for your head, shoulders, back, hips, upper and lower legs, and knees.

That way, you wake up refreshed with no aches.

Amerisleep is also keen on eliminating harsh chemicals in the mattresses. They make the memory foam using plant-based foam which is infused with Bio-Pur — a product manufactured from sustainable crops like corn, castor beans, and soybeans.

Therefore, the foam contains only a limited amount of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds). However, it’s important to note that it may off-gas (though not as much as traditional memory foam).

Amerisleep Lines and Mattress Types

Amerisleep has two lines of mattress:

And five types of mattresses, namely AS1, AS2, AS3, AS4, and AS5.

Memory Foam Mattresses

Amerisleep memory foam mattresses are made of plant-based memory foam. The benefit of using plant-based memory foam — unlike traditional memory foam — is that you get better breathability and responsiveness.

Amerisleep has two types of standard memory foam mattresses:

  • AS1
  • AS4

AS1 and AS4 Construction and Specs

Amerisleep AS1 has two layers, while AS4 has three layers.

Note: All mattresses have a soft and ultra-breathable cover to prevent overheating.

The first layer for both memory foam mattresses is constructed with Bio-Pur foam. This layer gives you a breathable surface thanks to the open-cell foam design that allows air circulation.

Bio-Pur foam cradles your body in a healthy posture. And it also bounces back into shape instantly after you lay on it. This ensures that you’re comfortable when changing your sleeping position without feeling “stuck.”

What’s more, did you know? Bio-Pur is naturally resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew.

The main difference between AS1 and AS4 is that AS4 has a hive layer in between the Bio-Pur and Bio-Core layers.

The hive layer has hundreds of six-sided foam support elements that prevent unnecessary sinkage of your head, torso, and legs. In turn, they help to reduce the build of pressure in those body parts by up to 49%.

That way, your body gets the support it needs to maintain a healthy sleeping posture.

In the bottom layer, both variants have a sturdy Bio-Core foam base layer. The purpose of the Bio-Core is to eliminate indentations and sagging. And that’s what makes these two mattresses the firmest Amerisleep beds.

Hybrid Mattresses

Amerisleep hybrid mattresses are made with a combination of pocketed coils and at least 2 inches of memory foam in the comfort layer.

The hybrid mattresses include

  • AS2
  • AS3
  • AS5

AS2, AS3, and AS5 Construction and Specs

AS2 and AS5 both have four layers, while AS3 has three layers.

All the hybrid variants have a cover and Bio-Pur foam layer similar to the memory foam mattresses.

The distinguishing factor about the AS2, however, is that it’s got two support layers that “sandwich” the pocketed coils.

The top support layer provides back and stomach sleepers with a reinforced sleeping surface. While the bottom support layer gives the bed a sturdy base for comfort and durability.

Amerisleep AS3 mattress is quite similar to AS2. The only difference is that it lacks the top support layer above the pocketed coils, as shown in the picture below. That makes it softer than the AS2 and more suitable for some lightweight side sleepers.

The AS5 structure is similar to AS2, but the unique feature is the Active Flex layer situated between the Bio-Pur and pocketed coil system.

The Active Flex layer provides extra cushion while still maintaining responsiveness. It’s got the perfect balance of comfort and superior pressure relief. It adds softness and bounciness to the mattress to enable you to change your sleeping position smoothly.

The pocketed coil system in all the hybrid brands gives the bed a bouncy feel that helps to keep your body lifted. Additionally, for better edge support, the Amerisleep hybrid mattresses have double-density coils along the sides.

Amerisleep Mattress Review

Pain and Pressure Relief

Pressure relief refers to the ability of a bed to ease tension in the most sensitive body parts. That includes the head, neck, shoulders, hips, lower back, and knees.

Thanks to the combination of the SMT and bouncy foam, Amerisleep mattresses make sure you won’t wake up in pain.

“The Best Bed For Someone with Three Back Surgeries.

I am 25 years old and unfortunately, I’ve had three back surgeries. I tried to find the most comfortable bed out there so I wouldn’t continue to have pain. This was the bed that led me to sleep in peace after my surgeries. I highly recommend this bed to anyone looking for pain-free sleep.”

Cool and Breathable

Amerisleep mattress covers are not only light and airy, but they’re made with celliant.

Celliant is a thread constructed from blending highly thermo-reactive minerals that convert your body heat into infrared light.

Together, celliant and infrared light are clinically confirmed to boost your blood flow which subsequently keeps your oxygenation levels at an optimum — therefore regulating your body temperature.

When it comes to the mattress, the Bio-Pur cell construction allows hot air to escape from your body.

“Cooler, better nights sleep

We were very nervous to buy this mattress without seeing it first. It is really comfortable. I used to get too hot every night with my old mattress but this one is so much cooler.”

— Kelandra

Off-Gassing

You’ll notice a “new mattress” smell after unboxing the Amerisleep mattress.

Nevertheless, Amerisleep meets the CertiPUR-US criteria for emissions and materials — meaning the smell isn’t too strong or toxic. In this case, the odor comes from the plant oils and natural fabrics and not from harmful chemicals.

Amerisleep recommends that you air the mattress in an airy room for 3–7 days (before putting any bedding on it) so that any off-gassing scent can dissipate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. However, you should place a 0.75-inch moisture-resistant plywood on top of the box spring because Amerisleep mattresses need to rest on an even and solid surface.

What’s the Best Support for my Amerisleep Mattress?

We recommend that you place your mattress on a platform or a slatted base with slats that are at most three inches apart. Additionally, the Amerisleep mattresses can curve, making them ideal for adjustable beds.
