The secret behind a good night’s sleep is both down to your surroundings but also upon the pillow you rest your weary head on. It’s not something that I would particularly pay attention to as a young adult but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself becoming a bit of a bed snob, with high expectations. Any comparisons made are usually based on the comforts I find in my own bed.
I think we’re all like that though, right? There’s nothing like slipping into your comfies and enjoying the feel of your own bedsheets and that all too familiar smell of the laundry detergent you use for every wash. So when it comes to bedtime I’m very particular with how I like my bed to feel, from the mattress to the pillows.
As a hot sleeper myself, the Sweet Night Original Pillow is one that I’ve been wanting to try out for a while due to its cooling memory foam and especially its claim as the best pillow for neck pain.
In this review, I’ll be covering all aspects of the pillow from product details to the features that stand out. I’ll also go through the pros and cons of the product and ultimately my overall verdict.

The Sweet Night Original Pillow comes in three different sizes; Standard, Queen and King. As far as ergonomic pillows go, this one has been designed to provide the best in comfort. The adjustable loft and firmness make it one of the most comfortable pillows I’ve ever come across.
The outer pillow cover is made of 30% rayon, which is a material that’s derived from bamboo. There are many benefits to using bamboo as a material. It keeps fresher for longer due to the microscopic holes in the bamboo’s fibre. It’s what contributes to the Sweet Night’s wonderfully soft exterior, it’s crease-resistant which I love and it’s eco-friendly – an added bonus.
Bamboo is also sweat-resistant, making it a good choice for those needing some help controlling their body temperature in bed. When it comes to asking the question, which is the best material for a sleeping pillow, bamboo is the go-to.
The interior is filled with 90% gel-infused foam and 10% shredded foam which contribute to the breathability and overall comfort of the pillow. An added extra is the 25% extra filling that you simply unzip the pillow to remove. It has a machine-washable outer cover that’s hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and dust mite resistant.
My First Impressions
One look at this pillow and you can tell just by the visual appearance that it’s going to be a good one.
I have to say that the softness of the pillow is something that I really love. I like the high-density memory foam filling that makes up the firmness of the pillow and that you can remove some of the shredded memory foam fill to help find that perfect pillow height.
The extra filling that you can remove inside of the pillow is easily accessible through the zipper and is in perfectly formed square cubes. It meant that there was no mess when it came to pulling some of that extra padding out.
The exterior of the pillow is a luxuriously soft material and in my opinion, when it comes to answering what is the softest pillow material, bamboo is up there at the top. It honestly felt like I was sleeping on a cloud.
For anyone worried about the impact certain materials have on your skin, bamboo is considered one of the best when it comes to sleep masks and pillows. It’s not one that’s g,going to cause irritation or creasing of the skin.
The look of the pillow itself is simple but stylish. You could easily throw over a pillowcase or you can keep it as is and it’ll still look presentable on your bed.
Stand-Out Features
There are many great features to this pillow and some for me that stand out immediately is the premium materials that have been used. From the exterior rayon material to the gel-infused memory foam.
The Memory foam pillow has become significantly popular due to its health benefits when it comes to sleepers with sore necks. A lot of standard pillows don’t have the same firmness as this Sleep Night Original Pillow has. I would say it has a medium firmness that isn’t too hard or soft and keeps to its original shape.
Harvard Health mentioned that neck pain often comes from a poor-quality pillow. Matthew O’Rourke, a physical therapist at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital mentions that “a pillow that’s too soft or too firm can often lead to a sore neck”. That’s why the Sweet Night Original Pillow is one that I feel makes for the perfect neck pillow. As far as a support pillow goes, this one provides enough firmness and density needed.
The Pros & Cons
It’s important to cover both the pros and cons of this product in order to give it a fair review. I feel like pillows are a personal preference and so what I find to be the perfect pillow, might not be the case for you.
I’ve put these pros and cons into bullet points, just so it’s a little more easily digestible but I do go into some detail further down on these points.

- As far as expensive pillows go, the quality adds more than enough value to what you pay.
The advantages of the ergonomic design mean that even heavyweight stomach sleepers or side sleepers will get a good quality night’s sleep, thanks to the Sleep Night Original Pillow.
The breathable fabric of the rayon material makes it great for hot sleepers or those with a dust mite allergy.
The extra padding is one worth mentioning, particularly as it comes in these cube forms. Cheaper pillows will often use any remaining foam from their mattresses, which they shred and put into the pillow. It often leads to uneven pillow firmness.
Cons

Whilst this pillow ticks all the boxes, in my opinion, I am typically one for a soft pillow than any firmer alternatives. This is certainly a good in-between but the density of the memory foam might not be to everyone’s tastes.
For sleep preferences, you may find this pillow to not have enough adjustability, even with the extra padding. With that being said, you could always buy an extra pillow for added height. As I mentioned, it’s a great one for soft support but depending on your preferences, this moldable pillow might not provide enough for a restful sleep for some.
As far as shredded foam pillows go, this one has a good mix but if you’re looking for firmer pillows, you may want to consider something with even more density than the Sweet Night Original Pillow.
Overall Verdict
I really like this pillow when it comes to my sleep setup.
It offers the right level of support for my neck and head, as well as being super comfortable and soft to the touch. I think the value for money is apparent and that I’ve found myself to be having a deeper sleep as a result of trialing this pillow.
However, it’s important to note that personal preferences are unique and therefore the level of firmness offered with this pillow might not be for every sleeper type.
If this pillow is anything to go by, then Sweet Night is one company I shall be checking out when it comes to its entire range of sleep products.
